What the sources show

Arena publishes rankings across different tasks. Epoch AI maintains individual benchmarks and a capability index. Their numbers answer different questions.

Our analysis

A single league table cannot tell every reader which system to use. A useful comparison should retain the exact model variant, evaluation setting, source date and task. Small gaps deserve caution; price, latency and access can change the practical choice.

Our editorial rule

We do not average Arena scores with Epoch scores. Weekly changes will only be reported against a stored, comparable previous snapshot.
